TRUST YOUR CREATIVE VOICE
“You can sing, but you’ll never make it”
is something you have been told,
or a story you told yourself back when…
But guess WHAT?
There is only one you, with the one voice that might have
something very special to communicate to the world and I don’t think you are showing up for it fully yet.
You “making it” really means making a decision to be visible.
Claim your space!
OWN YOUR VOCAL POWER.
“As a mentor, Ashley strikes the perfect balance of meeting you where you’re at in your creative journey and pushing you to think bigger, act bolder, and work beyond what you thought you were comfortable with. I’ve always struggled to find the confidence to let people hear my music, and Ashley was able to put me in a setting that I was comfortable in and moved me forward in getting my music out there. She’s a truly inspiring woman who is dedicated to helping others harness the best versions of themselves. ”
My favorite African Proverb reads:
Some of the worlds most ancient, healing, and prolific music
is from the heart of Africa.
This simple proverb is loaded with wisdom.
Have you ever listed to music from Mali?
The uplifting melodies, rhythms, and chants
can literally shift your mood once you let it sink in.
Singing and chanting are more powerful than we think.
The voice carries a frequency,
your unique sound is in essence
carrying a particular vibration.
What vibration do you carry?
Sound and singing release negativity and can realign your frequency
and it can bring you to balance and harmony.
You have the power and potential to shift frequency with your voice.
This is why quite simply, singing makes us feel better.
Your purpose, your essence is coded in that voice of yours.
So, take a deep breath and relax and
let the message soak into your bones for a moment.
So, dare I say, that with the current state of the world,
it is time to step into your power and potential,
so that you can
start to speak and sing your truth.
You are the only person who can carry your frequency,
change that frequency,
and deliver that very unique perspective and sound.
There is no one who carries your same spirit,
your unique frequency or “sound”
and what better way than to share your signature voice.
I think it’s due time to stop hiding.
Stop suppressing your desires
let go, drop the bull:
“I am not where I wanted to be”
“It’s too selfish to really go all the way in”
“I’m not talented enough”
“I’m too old”
or the classic fave
“I don’t have enough time”
are all just excuses.
Why continue to stay small?
I used to spend my days wondering
How I will ever be able be a real artist and pursue a vocal career?
Here’s my story:
I knew it was my calling, my dream, to
travel the world and sing
but it felt so out of reach.
I spent all of my late teens and early twenties
traveling around the world and writing
(*notice, I said writing not singing.)
I lived in Spain, then travelled across Europe, then lived in China,
travelled all across Southeast Asia, then lived in Sweden
long enough to learn the language and speak fluently….
I wasn’t clear on exactly what I wanted to do.
I just knew I wanted to sing and it
kept showing up in my writing, for YEARS!
After the Great Wall and
through all of my journeys east and west
came to an abrupt halt and I landed smack dab in Colorado…
I somehow after the travel got the courage
to put myself out there one day.
I did the unthinkable. I listed myself as a (clears throat)
*Vocalist* seeking musicians…on dun dun dun Craigslist.
I got together with a guitarist in his 70’s,
performed a handful of times,
gained confidence to perform.
But I knew that wasn’t the top of my ceiling.
I wanted to reach further.
Then applied for a competition, and WON,
and got to perform in Las Vegas
opening up for Tears for Fears (haha, wow!)
Then I got the confidence to look for a band, found one.
BOOM.
My band I would tour with for 10 years
was born in its first iteration.
Band starts recording, playing shows, booking tours,
suddenly I am playing over 200 shows a year
all over the Western US.
In 10 years,
Wow did I learn a lot.
I learned more than anyone could ever imagine
playing all those shows.
All the while I had joined forces with the bassist
and started teaching voice in 2010
something a professor once discouraged me from.
Fast forward a couple years, in 2012
teaching turns into a booking agency and artist collective.
Fast forward a year later,
the once side-job teaching gig turns into
founding a 501c3 non-profit music school in 2013
(check out the founder tab on my website to see what it is all about)
I am teaching voice and music in high schools, middle schools,
giving guest lectures on Voice and Music Business at colleges,
in detention facilities, and alternative learning facilities while touring full time.
I have at this point played shows in Canada and Mexico,
adding Norway, Sweden, and Iceland to the list,
where I am also presenting at Girls Rock Camp Alliance International
as a guest performer and coach!
Suddenly my vocal studio in Colorado is at capacity,
I launch a music festival in which the
State of Colorado recognizes my band and the non-profit as
one of the leaders of independent music movements in the state
and asks us to host the Colorado Music Summit with a $30k grant.
Ok, WOAAAH so hold on. Let’s pause.
(and this is just the shorthand version of my story.)
I want to bring it back to YOU and WHATS REAL.
Trusting your creative voice, your imagination, your heart.
The beauty you brought into this world is still inside of you,
the power and potential that is you is waiting,
wanting acknowledgement and
is dying to be heard.
I will guide you through steps to shift the energy, expand, and shine.
It is time, and I want to help you
OWN YOUR VOCAL POWER.
There is no better time
to witness the energetic transformation possible
by opening your throat chakra and
allowing your authentic voice to come through.
I am a vocalist, entrepreneur, coach, and visionary,
who believes our voices and the unique sound and vibration we carry
have profound healing properties if we allow them to come through.
These individuals started their vocal voyage
because they had the courage
to say “YES” to themselves.
By discovering and using voice, we discover our truest selves
and harness the creative force which has the potential to heal.
I have coached hundreds of individuals in groups, classes,
and one-on-one sessions for the past 10 years.
Just like you, we were once wondering,
“What’s my next step?”
I have worked with both youth, adults, in detention facilities,
high schools, colleges, alternative education facilities,
in the home and at the studio.
“Having had the opportunity of working with Ashley, is by no exaggeration, one of the most amazing privileges to come into my life. Before even getting to know her, you are drawn to her full of life spirit and can immediately see her drive, passion, and dedication to her craft.
Ashley is one of the hardest working people I’ve ever met. She takes on an incredible amount of work yet makes it seem so effortless and it is because she loves what she does, and it shows. Everything she commits to she gives her all to. I can speak first hand as one of her students that you are not just another repeated generic lesson plan. She dedicated so much time and effort into each one of my sessions and really took the time to get to know me so that she could convey her knowledge of music in a way that would connect with me personally. She dedicated her time outside of our sessions to help and support me. She put this much care into each one of her students, businesses, performances, and projects.
She will build you up but never give you false praise. She will challenge you and push you past your comfort zone but only because she believes in you and knows you will be better for it. She is selfless, dedicated, caring, creative, and passionate.
Ashley has given me opportunities of a lifetime, confidence I wouldn’t have found on my own, a passion and skillset in music I wouldn’t have developed without her, a strong female role model to look up to, a whole new positive direction in life, and so so so much more. I could write a whole essay on how amazing it is working with Ashley but in short working with her is transformative. I am incredibly grateful to have Ashley in my life and I am definitely better for it. ”
The most common thread behind all of our hang-ups,
no matter our age, gender, demographic, or personality type
is lack of confidence.
At one point, we bought into a story we kept repeating,
which created a wound that very much needs to heal.
It caused the throat chakra to have a blockage,
and from that day forward, we forgot how important it is
to be fully ourselves.
To speak, sing, write, create and live in a place of powerful authenticity.
